Everyone’s Spotify Wrapped dropped last week, but more importantly, my Spotify Wrapped dropped last week. I thought it might be fun to highlight some of the results on this here newsletter. Who was your Top Artist this year? Post it in the comments, we can get a discussion going (that’s written in the imperative mood, I note with interest).

My Top Artist this year was, drum roll please, Kate Bush. Of course it was. She was also the artist behind four of my top five songs. The fifth one, surprisingly, was a Billy Talent song I used to listen to a lot at the gym. The sixth song on my yearly playlist is Regina Spektor-Ode to Divorce. I think perhaps my top 101 songs playlist is the best one, objectively. I suppose that’s hard to believe, because it’s made up of songs I listened to a lot this year so of course it would appeal to me, but I have (somewhat) independently verified this. About a week ago, I received an email that an order I had placed from a company SIX MONTHS AGO is now shipping. I had genuinely chalked it up to an internet scam at this point, but nonetheless my beautiful Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Japanese edition movie poster has finally arrived. It’s somewhat of a rarity and hard to come by, so as soon as I can figure out how to frame it, it will be prominently displayed in my room.

I drove to Lansing (~an hour away) yesterday to see a friend for about twenty minutes. Worth it. I drove past a town with my mother’s name en route. I was going to get off the highway and take a picture to send to her, but it wasn’t convenient.

Here’s a trivia question, don’t google it: There are three musicians who have sold over 100 millions records as a solo artist AND as the principal member of a band. One is Phil Collins (Genesis). Who are the other two?
